Welcome to my National Poetry Writing Month Prompts!
For the month of April, I’m sharing a poetry prompt every single day.
Prompts are posted on Substack every day but only emailed to your inbox once a week so as not to flood them.
Poetry Prompt
Write a poem as if you only had one sense. Perhaps it’s taste. Or smell. Readers should feel only one sense alive while reading your poem.
Craft Challenge: Really focus on the small details in this poem. Reach for the slightest moment. For example, if you chose touch, perhaps it’s the way an orange peel grows waxy under your fingernails as you peel it. Then, the way the stringy fibers resemble a spider web between your fingers. Keep going—smaller and smaller.
Feel free to share your poems in the comments, joining thousands of poets taking part in the annual Napowrimo tradition. I can’t wait to show your words some love.
